A Louisville woman was overjoyed after discovering she won $150,000 playing a Kentucky Lottery Scratch-off.
The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, showed up at lottery headquarters Wednesday where she scanned her ticket at the Claims window. That’s when the reality of her winning $150,000 hit her. She started to jump up and down and had a difficult time holding back her excitement. Employees nearby could overhear her celebrating.
“I’ve got happy tears,” she said as she was greeted by lottery officials. “I’m so excited, I can’t contain it.”
The woman purchased the $10 Red Cherry Tripler Scratch-off ticket at the Speedway on Arthur Street in Louisville Tuesday night.
While scratching the ticket off in her car, she revealed two red cherry symbols indicating the $20,000 prizes shown be tripled for a total of $120,000. Her ticket also matched a red number 39, doubling the $15,000 prize to $30,000, totaling the game’s $150,000 top prize.
“I was in the car, it was dark, and I thought I only had $150,” she said. “When I got home in the light, I saw the comma. I couldn’t believe.”
As she was leaving the building with her check the following morning, she told officials she was first going to treat herself to a spa day to clear her head. She also plans to buy a new car.
Speedway will receive $1,500 for selling the winning ticket.
